THQ and world events Productions announced today that video games based on the classic "voltron" television franchise coming:Voltron is back to defend the universe, and the iconic brand is ready to thrill longtime fans and get new target groups under an agreement announced today between world events Productions (WEP) and THQ Inc.
WEP, a top animation television production company, and its representative, of the classical Media a global media company with a portfolio of some of the world's leading entertainment brands with THQ will work for the production of video games based on the Voltron franchise.
The video games from THQ, a leading global developer and publisher of interactive entertainment software, will join the previously announced toy line manufactured under a separate agreement between WEP and Mattel, which plans to release toy lines based on classical Voltron in 2011 and new Voltron Force in 2012.
The video games of the Voltron of THQ are expected to debut this fall, after the premiere of the brand new 2D/CGI animated Voltron Force series, which is set to launch in the us on Nicktoons Network, and with other important broadcasting organizations worldwide, in 2011.
THQ games will build on the epic adventure that blazed on television screens in 1984 as Voltron: defender of the universe, in which five robotic lions, controlled by a team of brave space explorers, form the mighty robot hero, Voltron. The show quickly became a top-rated series that inspired a best-selling toy line and Voltron turned into a pop-culture icon.
"The relationship of the video games with THQ, along with our master toy relationship with Mattel, signals the exciting future ahead for Voltron," said Robert Koplar, Vice President at the world events Productions. "With his signature robot lion action and titanic-scale fights, our Voltron games and toys together with our new series there have huge attraction for fans of all ages around the world."
